Uniqarta is commercializing manufacturing processes that transform conventional semiconductor wafers into ultra-thin, flexible ICs assembled on flexible substrates. This is enabling flexible electronics with form factors never before possible.
Uniqarta is a startup based on novel manufacturing processes that embed ultra-thin semiconductor ICs within thin materials such as paper. This enables a variety of applications but has the most immediate applicability to RFID applications. The cost of RFID tags is the greatest impediment to broad adoption. Excessive thickness and inadequate flexibility are also frequently problematic. Uniqarta is addressing this by reducing the cost and thickness of RFID inlays as well as eliminating the need for multi-layer laminated configurations. Addressable markets include logistics/inventory management, authentication/counterfeit prevention, and interactive mass market printed media applications.
